Online Self-Assessment Test
The Self-Assessment Test is produced yearly in conjunction with the Postgraduate Course and is one of the main teaching tools of the College. This detailed examination is carefully prepared by an ACG committee with input gathered from the majority of Postgraduate Course faculty members. Each year of the test includes approximately 300 new questions in a single best answer format with detailed answers and annotated references. Many of the questions also include photographs, illustrations, or videos. The tests provide a valuable review both for graduating fellows preparing for the GI Boards and established practitioners brushing up on their knowledge and test-taking skills, looking for a broad clinical update, or preparing for recertification.
Designed to work around your schedule, the SAT test questions are grouped into content specific categories such as liver, IBD, pancreatico-biliary, and colon. You may work on the questions at your leisure and save your progress as you go. You can access the exam from any device and work on the questions any time of the day or night.
After answering each question, you are immediately notified if you answered the question correctly. You are given a detailed explanation of the correct answer and why the other choices are not correct, as well as supporting references linked to PubMed for further study. Upon completion of the approximately 300 questions, you will be notified if you passed with 70% of the questions correct. Those who pass will be given the option to complete the evaluation and claim both AMA Category 1 Credits™ and ABIM Medical Knowledge MOC points. Your scoring profile, including overall and category scores as well as comparison data to your peers, is also available.
If you did not complete 70% of the questions correctly, you will be given the option to restart the exam and attempt to answer all 300 questions again. You will be able to access this exam an unlimited number of times but will only be permitted to claim credits once. Tests remain accessible on the website for one year past the expiration date, at which time all expired tests are removed.
IMPORTANT: Requests for MOC points MUST be submitted by December 31 of the year you COMPLETE the test. If you complete the test in its final year of release, you must claim credits prior to the expiration date. No retroactive credit will be accepted by ABIM.
